Review: Charlotte´s Bed

Title: Charlotte´s Bed
Author: S.J.Stava
Synopsis: At thirty, Charlotte is sick of the single life. Sick of online matchmaking, sick of bad first (AND second) dates, and sick of the dreaded "I can't believe you're not married yet!" pitying stares. So when her boyfriend proposes – who just happens to be a Dean at the university where she works – she's thrilled to bid her singledom adieu. At the start of the new semester, she seems to have it all: a great job, great friends, and now. . . a great fiancé. So what’s the catch? An annoyingly handsome new teaching assistant and the opportunity to direct the school’s fall production. Still can’t see the downside? Neither can Charlotte until suddenly, what she thought she wanted, might not be enough anymore. How do you choose between the life you've always imagined and the love you've suddenly discovered?

My Review:
For this lovely day of the year I bring you a not so typical romance read. I really loved this book because it is believable and real, it´s like life itself. Usually romance books are so fairy tale kind that makes readers have high expectations on love, at least that´s what happens to me. But Charlotte´s Bed was like a fresh breeze on a hot day. It made me get out of my comfort zone with some of the topics while at the same time it made me rethink my believes because in this certain topic I was like black or white and now I have learnt to get all the fact before judging. So besides being a great read, it also thought me thinks about life too.

This book will hook you from the very first chapter because the writing is easy, fun and addictive all at the same time. I have to say that I was kind of lost during the first 6 chapters for the change in time because sometimes the narration goes back and forth in time but when you get used to the style is perfect. I really liked the characters: the main ones and the secondary because they provided depth to the plot which was already complicated. Getting inside of Charlotte´s mind is like a rollercoaster because not even she knows what to do with her life and I loved it! Because who really knows what´s going on with her life? I am more lost in life than what I let people know so reading a character that has all this mixed thoughts and feelings made me feel good xD

I would have loved to read some chapters from either Mason or Richard just to get another POV of the story because sometimes being in Charlotte´s head was like a hurricane! I loved the end, when I was finishing the book I was worried because there were too many things that had to happen but just a few pages so I kind of freak out a bit but the author managed to write a perfect ending: happy, open but at the same time giving a sense of closure. The ending got me satisfied but as it always happens with good books you always want to red more! So I would love to read a companion novella or a sequel sometime in the future if the author is up to it.

Charlotte´s Bed is a funny, refreshing and romantic book that will hook you from the 1st line. This book had me at hello! (Those who have read the book will get my pun xD). S.J.Stava did an amazing job on her debut novel, definitely can´t wait to read more from her!
