Down on her luck, nursing student and full-time waitress Kara Foster gets a massive blow to her already desperate financial situation that will surely find her living on the streets. Needing nothing less than a miracle to save her, Kara gets rescue from an unknown, unlikely and overwhelming source. Billionaire Simon Hudson makes her an offer that is impossible to refuse, but terrifying to accept from a man that she's never met. Will the handsome, alpha billionaire really be a solution to her problems, or will he end up being a major complication and a danger to her emotional sanity?
Reclusive billionaire Simon Hudson would rather be behind a computer creating computer games than rubbing elbows with the elite and he knows exactly what he wants...until he meets Kara Foster. Something about Kara touches Simon in ways he's never experienced and definitely doesn't like. For over a year, Simon watches over Kara, but stubbornly re-fuses to admit his desire to possess her, not even to himself. But when she ends up in a situation that could very well be her destruction, Simon steps up to help her, not realizing that in saving Kara, he might very well be salvaging his own soul.

I got hard when she rocked back and forth on me. I thought I could come just from this action alone. I wanted so much of Josie, but not here…not now.

Excerpt:
Cassie was glad Luke had decided to drive back because her hands were
shaking with a mixture of excitement and nerves. They tried to make
light conversation, but the sexual tension between them was too much to
sustain a topic.
They walked into her kitchen together; the mounting anticipation was
palpable. Cassie didn’t realize she was hanging onto the doorknob until
Luke gave her a curious look.
“We don’t have to do this if you’re not ready, Cassie,” he said gently.
She’d felt brave in the restaurant and excited on the drive, but now,
back at her place, she was nervous. “I am. At least I think I am. It’s
just been a long time.”
He caressed the side of her neck lightly with one hand, and she sucked in an audible breath. “How long?”
His touch sparked flames of desire through her. She closed her eyes and
savored the feeling before answering in a whisper, “Four, maybe five
years.”
She opened one eye and peered up at him to assess his reaction. His expression was difficult to discern. “You don’t remember?”
Cassie turned her head away. “I was lonely, and he didn’t matter. I
didn’t even know his last name. I’m not proud of who I was back then. I
wasn’t in a good place.”
Tenderly, Luke turned Cassie’s face back toward his. “Don’t hide from me, Cassie. You can tell me anything.”
Cassie blinked back tears. Unless I tell you I may be pregnant. I can guarantee that would be a mood breaker. “Why am I so nervous? It’s not like I’m a virgin.”
He unbuttoned his coat, lifted her hand, and placed it on his chest
above his heart. “You’re not my first either, Cassie, but can you feel
that? My heart is beating like I just finished a sprint. Do you know
why? Because unlike every other time, this feels different—like I’ve
been waiting my whole life for this moment.”
Cassie’s hand shook against his chest. His heart, like hers, was indeed beating a wild dance. “We barely know each other.”
He placed his other hand over hers on the doorknob. “We can fix that.”
He gave her that lopsided, boyish grin of his that melted her heart.
Again. “But you’ll have to let go of the door, Cupcake.”
She laughed nervously and did. He took her hand in his and brought it up
to his mouth, kissing the inside of her wrist while never breaking eye
contact with her. “Let’s go upstairs to your room. We don’t have to
rush. I want to make love to you slowly, learn every inch of you, and
watch you come again and again for me.”
He swung her up in his arms and carried her out of the kitchen, up the
stairs, and into her bedroom as if she were precious to him. Cassie
buried her face in his neck and clung to him. His consideration for her
almost brought her to tears. She was used to people who took from her.
Even if he left before she woke in the morning, she wouldn’t regret
choosing to be with him. He wasn’t like the fumbling boyfriends she’d
had in high school, or the selfish short-term lovers she’d experienced
as an adult. He was a man who knew how to please a woman and intended to
enjoy doing that.

I don’t need a second chance with him, or a life I thought I had.
While he was out forgetting me to become a movie star, I was building a career out of nothing. A career as a paparazzi, but a career. For a foster kid who bounced around every home in Los Angeles, that wasn’t easy.
This camera is all I have.
He’s nothing to me. Every time I take his picture and sell it, I remind myself that I did it all without him or his approval, his cinnamon smell or his clear green eyes. He lights up the screen like a celestial body, but he’s nothing but a paycheck to me.
He can throw my camera off a balcony, and nothing has to change. We can stay king and queen of the same city, and different worlds.
Except this is Hollywood, and here, anything can happen.
I stroked his hair, waist deep in peace, all worry gone for the moment, and floating in no more than an ocean of gratitude. I must have been more vulnerable than I realized, or he’d reopened some wound with his kindness, because though my sweet reverie stayed, as the minutes passed, a layer of need fitted itself on top of it.
I needed to tell him, if not the details, the outlines of who I was.
“I want you to know,” I whispered, starting somewhere small, then everything I didn’t want to say spilled out. “I have stuff. I’ve never been to jail, but you know, it’s stuff, and it’s ugly, and it scares me. Because, I mean, you’re so perfect, and I’m… I’m just a mess. I’m not whole. I’m a bunch of pieces of a person I cobbled together.” My eyes got wet when I thought of the comparisons between us and that picture in my silverware drawer. “So if you have to move on when you realize that, I’ll understand. You have an image, and if anyone understands protecting a career, it’s me. I mean, I’ll be mad, don’t get that wrong, but also.” I swallowed and blinked, shifting my head so he wouldn’t feel the tear on his forehead. “I won’t blame you.”
I waited for an answer. Anything. A change in position or a word on any subject. The weather. Sports. Something. But all he did was breathe.
I smiled so wide, tears fell into my mouth. He was sleeping.
About the Author:
CD Reiss is a USA Today and Amazon bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up, she’s at the well, hauling buckets.
Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere, but it did embed TV story structure in her head well enough for her to take a big risk on a TV series structured erotic series called Songs of Submission. It’s about a kinky billionaire hung up on his ex-wife, an ingenue singer with a wisecracking mouth; art, music and sin in the city of Los Angeles.
Critics have dubbed the books “poetic,” “literary,” and “hauntingly atmospheric,” which is flattering enough for her to put it in a bio, but embarrassing enough for her not to tell her husband, or he might think she’s some sort of braggart who’s too good to give the toilets a once-over every couple of weeks or chop a cord of wood.
If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.
I am so happy with the response to Shuttergirl, and I cannot wait to send Michael and Laine out into the world, because who doesn’t swoon over a second chance at love?
It’s a new genre for me, and I’m exploding with excitement, so I’ve dropped some fantastic reasons for readers to get the book right away.

Synopsis:One week.
Manhattan apartment.
Super-hot ex-boyfriend.
…What’s the worst that could happen?
It’s been nine months since Kaitlyn Parker has seen or heard from Martin Sandeke—nine months and five stages of matter. She’s lived through the worst of first-love heartbreak, and is most certainly stronger (and less likely to hide in science cabinets) than ever before.
But now Martin is back. And he wants to be friends. But he’s sending mixed signals to the Bunsen burner in Kaitlyn’s pants.
Will Martin re-capture Kaitlyn’s heart? Can Kaitlyn and Martin ever be just friends? Or, despite an abundance of chemistry, are some bonds just too unstable to endure?
My review:
I just love these series, seriously! I really don´t want it to end cause it made me live something extraordinary that I craved.
Capture is the last part in this 3 book series. If you loved Kaitlyn and Martin in Attraction and Heat you will defenitely lose your mind over them in Capture. I can just say words of wonder over Penny Reid´s masterpieces, she has fastly and easily become one of my favourite authors so if you haven´t read anything from her yet, what are you waiting for?
As always the story is catching, the characters amazingly developed and the writing sublime. And as it always happens after reading one of her books, I am proud of being a nerd in my own freakish way!
About Penny Reid:
SEX! It all started with sex, between my parents. Personally I don’t like thinking about it, but whatever works for you is a-ok with me. No judgment. The sex happened in California and much of my life also occurred in that state until I moved from the land of nuts (almonds), wine, silicon… boobs, and heavy traffic to the southeast US. Like most writers I like to write, but let’s get back to sex. Eventually I married and gave birth to 2 small people-children (boy-6, girl-4 as of this writing).
By day I’m a biomedical researcher with focus on rare diseases. By night I’m a knitter, sewer, lino block carver, fabric printer, soap maker, and general crafter. By the wee hours of the morning or when I’m intoxicated I love to listen to the voices in my head and let them tell me stories. I hope you enjoy their stories.
Avery Yeung's biological clock just went off early. Thanks to her family's medical history, she's running out of time to get knocked up. And the only guy within donating distance? Her overprotective-and irritatingly hot-best friend. So clearly she needs an anonymous donor...
Anonymous donor? Over Sheriff Drew Flannery's dead body. While daddyhood will never be in the cards for a man with his past, Drew won't let Avery shop for a "popsicle pop." He'll do what's right for his best friend by doing his best friend. But only if they do it properly.
But there's nothing "proper" about it. Between the bed, the kitchen counter, and against his squad car, Avery and Drew are having the hottest sex ever. They can't get enough of it-or each other. And without knowing it, they've crossed the one line that could ruin their friendship forever...
What was the problem? She bit back the question. It didn’t really matter. All that mattered was that he kept touching her. He ran his hands down her spine, stopping just before reaching the cuffs. Then he pulled her into a standing position, using his hips to keep her pinned against the side of the Jeep, and repeated the process with the front of her body.
Or he started to. It stopped being a cursory exploration as soon as he reached her breasts. He cupped her, squeezing. “Why the hell aren’t you wearing a bra?”
He lightly pinched her nipples and she shivered. “I wasn’t aware I was talking to the fashion police.”
“Do you know what it does to me knowing you’re driving around, a short step away from being topless?” His breath brushed the back of her neck and over one shoulder, raising goose bumps in its wake.
Probably the same thing it did to Avery. She didn’t make a habit of going braless, but she might start if this was the reaction she got. She took a shaky breath. “Then I guess you better not do a panty check.”
Drew froze for one eternal second. Then he pushed her back down over the hood of her Jeep and dragged her skirt up to bunch around her hips. A breeze chose that moment to hit—as if she needed the reminder of just how exposed she was. But then he slid a hand between her legs, and she didn’t care much about anything else at all.
“You’re already wet.” He teased her, fingers brushing her clit, her entrance, and back again, nothing close to what she needed. “I think you like it when I toss you around.”
She gritted her teeth, fighting against the need to spread her legs to give him better access, and beg for him to just touch her. “Nah. I was touching myself while I was driving.”
“Really?” He kept up his maddening route. “And what were you thinking about?”
Hell, if she actually had started early, she’d have been thinking about him. Yesterday had given her plenty of ammunition for fantasies. No way in hell would she admit as much, though. “Sean Connery. Obviously.”
“Obviously.” His laugh was a little harsh. “Guess I’ll have to up my game if I want you in the here and now, huh?”
Up his game? Only if he wanted to kill her. Avery couldn’t admit she was so affected. She wouldn’t. It was just sex—and sex with a deadline, at that. She let her cheek rest against the cool metal of the hood, striving for control. “I don’t know. Sean Connery is a pretty tough act to follow.”
“Sean Connery, huh?”
“Yep.” She was lying through her teeth and she had a pretty good idea that he knew it. His fingers pushed deeper, spreading her until she couldn’t help but rock against him. She gritted her teeth. “He was really good.”
“I bet.” His lips found the back of her neck. “It’s a shame you have to settle for me.”
The ass didn’t sound the least bit bothered by it, either.
She hissed out a breath at the feeling of his palm cupping her. Owning her. It wasn’t supposed to be this intense. She closed her eyes, but that only made it worse, because she couldn’t pretend she was with anyone else but Drew.
She didn’t want to.
About the Author:
New York Times & USA TODAY Bestselling Author
Katee Robert learned to tell stories at her grandpa’s knee. Her favorites then were the rather epic adventures of The Three Bears, but at age twelve she discovered romance novels and never looked back.
Though she dabbled in writing, life got in the way—as it often does—and she spent a few years traveling, living in both Philadelphia and Germany. In between traveling and raising her two wee ones, she had the crazy idea that she’d like to write a book and try to get published.
Her first novel was an epic fantasy that, God willing, will never see the light of day. From there, she dabbled in YA and horror, before finally finding speculative romance. Because, really, who wouldn’t want to write entire books about the smoking-hot relationships between two people?
She now spends her time—when not lost in Far Reach worlds—playing imaginary games with her wee ones, writing, ogling men, and planning for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.
As far as I remember, this is the first book I read by Katee Robert and it is quite a good one. This wasn't the best book I've read recently but it was a good read. It is mostly fun and lighthearted and really good if you are looking for a light reading to relax after a long day. It is written very well and the characters are well developed and easy to connect with.
Avery and Drew are definitely interesting and fun main characters. I have to say that some of their actions were quite interesting and sometimes even fun :D Drew is definitely a delicious male specimen with black hair and blue eyes (my favorite combination in the world :D ) and he is also the sheriff with quite the track record as the local playboy. And of course he has a tortured past that only makes even more attractive to the average woman ;) Because who can resist a pantie melting man in uniform with a tortured past and playboy ways. There is just something about that combination that attracts every woman with the possibility that she will be the one to heal his wounds and change his ways :D Well, in this case, Avery is the perfect woman for Drew. She is his best friend and both of them carry a torch for each other since they were teenagers. Too bad none of them could recognize the feeling :D
Avery, of her own accord is quite an interesting character. She is strong and independent. But thanks to a huge heartbreak from her childhood she has to make a decision that will change her life forever. Because being a single mother is always quite the challenge. Thanks to this decision of hers, she finally has the chance to fight for the man who has always been the one she compared everyone else to, her best friend Drew :)
In a few words, this book is not spectacular but it is still quite interesting. It is not very long so it could be read for a night or two (depending on your free time) and it is perfect for a relaxing night at home :) I have to say that I will definitely check the other books in the series because I got intrigued by the supporting characters in this story :)
