My review:

I haven´t read anything about this author before and I didn´t know what to expect about Polarity in Motion.

The book hooked me from the very beginning and it kept my undivided attention till the end. The whole mystery anround Polarity is catching and exiting at the very same time. Apart from the plot twists that keep happening through the whole story I loved all the subtexts the whole story tried to teach. It treats topics like bullying, race and the dangers of the internet. It really made me think about all those everyday issues.

The main character is really good, I liked Polarity and her whole family. She is a strong character that fights for what she knows is worthy and she evolves as a person through the book. On the other hand, Ethan is the perfect male character, he remains in the backgroung as a more secondary character and allows Polarity to evolve as a person, I really liked that they don´t become an item almost till the end.

I would really recommend this book for all of those that like to think about thorny issues while reading a great book.

Review:

Since the moment I saw These Broken Stars in Netgalley I knew I had to read it. Have you seen that beautiful cover? However, my request wasn´t accepted so I had to wait almost 6 months to read it and when I finally did it, I was upset because it wasn´t what I was expected.

The whole setting of the book and the romance is a mixture of a sci-fi version of the Titanic and of Revis´s  Across the Universe. The plot was interesting and there was a lot of mystery, which from my point of view was the best part of the whole book.

The dual POV was perfect for this kind of book since it give us the chance to get to know the characters personalities more clearly. I loved Tarver from the very first page, he is definitely my kind of guy. On the other hand, Lilac was harder to like. In fact I didn´t stand her till half of the book, she was so annoying!

I loved all the sci-fi things of the book, the idea of hyperspace, new planet colonies, rifts... and the mix with the romance was quite perfect. Though I would have chosen a different girl for Tarver..mmm like me for example xD

The worst part of the book was the end, it was rushed and suddenly. I hope things will improve in the next book of the series.

Reseña:

Desde el momento en que en Netgalley These Broken Stars, supe que tenía que leerlo. ¿Habéis visto que portada tan bonita? Sin embargo, mi petición no fue aceptada , así que tuve que esperar casi 6 meses para leerlo y cuando por fin lo hice me quede decepcionada porque no era lo que  esperaba .

Toda la configuración del libro y la novela es una mezcla de una versión de ciencia ficción de Titanic y de Despierta de Beth Revis . La trama era interesante y había un montón de misterio, que desde mi punto de vista era la mejor parte de todo el libro.

El doble punto de vista era el perfecto para este tipo de libro , ya que nos da la oportunidad de conocer a los personajes y su personalidades con mayor claridad. Me encantó Tarver desde la primera página ,él es sin duda mi tipo de hombre . Por otro lado , Lila era más difícil de gustar, de hecho  no la soporté hasta la mitad del libro ¡era tan molesta!

Me encantaron todas las cosas de ciencia ficción del libro, la idea del hiperespacio , nuevas colonias planetarias, fisuras temporales ... y la mezcla con el romanticismo era bastante perfecta, a pesar de que yo hubiera elegido a una chica diferente para Tarver .. mmm como yo por ejemplo xD

La peor parte del libro fue el final, fue hecho de rápido y de repente . Espero que las cosas mejoren en el próximo libro de la serie.

My review:

I get this book through Netgalley and I was eager to read it because I loved Grasping at Eternity. I was sure I was going to love it, but I ended up liking it.

The beginning was really messy, I didn´t know what I was reading, I was completely lost. I didn´t know who where the good or the bad guys, and I didn´t like Yara. But Treygan appeared and the whole story experimented a 360 º turn and the pieces of the plot started to fit. I loved Treygan, his courage, believes and his way of loving Yara.

This book ended up really good and I didn´t expect another book to come out. But I´d love to read more about Treygan.

Mi reseña:

Conseguí este libro a través de Netgalley y  estaba ansiosa por leerlo porque me encantó Grasping at Eternity. Estaba segura de que me iba a encantar, pero terminó gustandome.

El comienzo fue muy complicado, yo no sabía muy bien lo que estaba leyendo, estaba completamente perdida. No sabía quién eran los buenos y quién los malos, y no me gustó Yara. Pero Treygan apareció y toda la historia experimentó un giro de 360 ​​º grados  y las piezas de la trama comenzaron a encajar. Me encantó Treygan, su coraje, creencias y su modo de amar a Yara.

Este libro terminó muy bien y no me esperaba que hubiera otra continuación. Pero me encantaría leer más sobre Treygan.

REVIEW: Lash

My review:

I get this book through Netgalley. I requested it because I´ve always loved the stories about angels.

The story is really captivating from the very beginning. Since Lash appeared, I loved him! He is  kind of a rebel angel, sexy, captivating, sassy and sweet at the same time. He would perfectly fit as a bad boy if you focus just on his appearance but deep inside, he is broken.

From the very beginning till the end, the story is full of mysteries. Almost every time I didn’t have a clue about was coming next, and I really loved how the author was able to create this suspense atmosphere little by little. There are hints since the beginning and as the story evolves every piece falls perfectly into place. I really liked how she played with name meanings, as I said she was giving hints since the beginning.

The story is narrated from 2 different points of view. My favorite parts were the ones narrated by Lash. The author really knew how to encapsulate his essence in the narrative. But Noemi´s parts were the funniest ones, she is so true, always saying what she thinks. I really liked the other characters, being Welita and Jeremy my favorite ones. I would love to read a book focused on Jeremy, he looks so mysterious and broken. (I really have something for the bad boys….)

I would have give it a 5 just for the plot idea but I ended up giving it a 4 because from my point of view the narrative was a bit fast paced, and there were too many unresolved questions. And most importantly, I didn´t feel that Naomi felt the same Lash did. I could felt his feeling were deep while Naomi´s were less true.

I would really recommend Lash and I can´t wait to read the next one.

My reseña:

Conseguí este libro a través Netgalley y lo pedí porque siempre me han gustado las historias sobre ángeles.

Desde el principio la historia es realmente cautivadora. Desde la aparición de Lash  ¡lo amé ! Él es una especie de ángel rebelde , sexy, fascinante , atrevido y dulce al mismo tiempo. Se ajusta perfectamente a un chico malo si nos centráramos sólo en su apariencia pero en el fondo , está roto.

Desde el principio hasta el final, la historia está llena de misterios . Casi cada vez  no tenía ni idea de lo que estaba por venir , y realmente me encantó la forma en la que la autora fue capaz de crear esa atmósfera de suspense poco a poco. Desde el principio hay indicios y es que conforme se desarrolla la historia cada pieza encaja perfectamente en su lugar. Me gustó mucho la forma en que juega con los significados de nombres , como ya he dicho, estaba dando pistas desde el principio.

La historia está narrada desde 2 puntos de vista diferentes . Mis partes favoritas han sido las narrados por Lash ,la autora sabe cómo encapsular la esencia de la narración . Sin embargo, las partes de Noemí fueron los más divertidos , ella es tan sincera , siempre dice lo que piensa. Me gustó mucho el resto de los personajes, siendo Welita y Jeremy mis favoritos . Me encantaría leer un libro centrado en Jeremy  y es que parece tan misterioso y roto. ( Realmente tengo algo con los chicos malos ....)

Le hubiera dado un 5 sólo por la idea de la trama, pero acabé dándole un 4 porque desde mi punto de vista  la narración es un poco rápida , y había muchas preguntas sin resolver . Y lo más importante , no sentía hacía Naomi lo mismo que hacia Lash, podía sentir  que sus sentimientos eran profundos, mientras que los de Naomi los sentía menos.

Recomiendo Lash encarecidamente y no puedo esperar a leer el siguiente libro.

REVIEW: More Than This

My review:

When I found out that this was the first novel by Jay McLean I was very surprised because she has entered the literary world like an earthquake, with a novel that touches the most intimate parts of the reader's heart.

The book is narrated from Mikayla and Jake´s point of view, every time the name at the beginning tell us who will be narrating, this makes reading easily even though the voices of Kayla and Jake are distinguishable. The fact of being able to see both points of view gave an interesting twist to the book. The author has managed to get perfectly on the head of each of them. I loved all the characters except 3 and I cannot say much because I do not want to spoil anything.

The chemistry between Mikayla and Jake is electrifying, I am not sure how they  didn´t ended up in spontaneous combustion. And the hot scenes created sparks,I felt like I was in the room with them. I need to prevent that the hot scenes could cause heart attacks. Although, one weeks ago I read the book I have yet Jake fever because I cannot stop thinking about Jake. Once you read about him, he gets under your skin. Mikayla is one of the characters that I've been more jealous of, obviously for Jake, and I would bet that more than half of the girls who have read had felt the same. This book has completely ruined the other guys for me. The word more has acquired a new meaning after reading this book. Now I can´t settle with less than more, I want more than more!

One of the things I liked about the book was that it is not just a book about love, but there are also other issues such as friendship, loss, forgiveness, lies and the importance of family. Till this book I haven´t understood the meaning of what a kiss really means. It is a book that as well as entertain, teach. It is a very complete book.

After reading many reviews I've seen some people that do not like the use of slang, I believe that slang brings realism to the story,  because  today you just have to listen to teenagers  to know that they speak in that way or even worse. Another thing that I really liked is that it is a very modern novel.

The ending was totally unexpected and left me with mixed feelings about it, and I cannot wait to read More Than Her.

My review:

Cuando me entere de que está era la primera novela de Jay McLean estuve muy sorprendida porque ha entrado en el mundo literario como un terremoto, haciendo una novela que llega a tocar hasta los rincones más íntimos del corazón del lector.

 El libro está narrado desde el punto de vista de Mikayla y Jake, cada vez que cambiaba la narración el nombre al principio nos dice quién va a estar narrando, esto facilita la lectura aunque las voces de Kayla y Jake son fácilmente diferenciables.

El hecho de poder ver ambos puntos de vista le dio un toque interesante al libro. La autora ha sabido meterse perfectamente en la cabeza de cada uno de sus personajes y es que algo que me ha pasado muchas veces es que algunos autores usan puntos de vista que parece que el mismo personaje está hablando. Me encantaron todos los personajes excepto 3 y tampoco puedo decir mucho porque no quiero hacer spoilers

.

La química que existe entre Mikayla y Jake es electrizante, no sé cómo no acabaron en combustión espontánea. Y las escenas calientes soltaban tantas chispas que hasta parecía que estaba yo con ellos en la habitación. He de advertir una cosa, las escenas calientes no son aptas para cardiacos. A pesar de que hace ya 1 semana que leí el libro todavía tengo Jake fever y es que no puedo parar de pensar en Jake, porque una vez que lees sobre él, se mete debajo de la piel. Mikayla es uno de los personajes de los que más celosa he estado, obviamente por Jake, y me atrevería a apostar que más de la mitad de las chicas que lo hayan leído estarán igual. Este libro ha arruinado por completo los otros chicos para mí.

La palabra más ha adquirido un nuevo significado después de leer este libro. Ahora no puedo conformarme con menos que más, quiero más que más!

Una de las cosas que más me gusto del libro fue que no es sólo un libro de amor, sino que también aparecen otros temas como la amistad, la pérdida, la familia, el perdón, la mentira y la importancia de la familia. Hasta este libro no había entendido el significado de lo que realmente significa un beso. Es un libro que además de entretener, enseña. Es un libro muy completo.

Tras haber leído muchas reseñas he visto que a bastante gente no le gusta el uso del slang, yo en cambio creo que le aporta mayor realismo a la historia, y es que hoy en día sólo hay que escuchar a los adolescentes de hoy en día para saber que hablan así e incluso peor. Otra cosa que me gusto mucho es que es una novela muy actual. Me encanta leer y a la vez sentirme identificada y saber de lo que hablan los personajes.

El final fue totalmente inesperado y me dejó con sentimientos encontrados al respecto, y no puedo esperar a leer More Than Her.

REVIEW: Jump

Perhaps it would depend on who was doing the asking. Our heroine has spunk and a sense of humor, however suffers from an extreme case of inappropriate clothing. When things take a turn from dangerous to worse what will she do when fantasy becomes reality? Warning: May include hot leather clad men, singing and demons.

Opinion: It is a short story with a sassy, funny and kick-ass protagonist. The story starts in a really exciting way, full of danger and intrigue. It catches the reader´s attention from the very first sentence: “Jump."My mother's voice popped into my head; "Would you jump off a bridge if so-and-so asked you too?”  till the end because the story has a circular structure that fits perfectly, it gives the feeling of perfection. Every single word and action falls in its place creating a feeling of continuity. Though it is a fast reading, the author has created an story so full of action and intrigue that I would love to read more about these characters because even though the end is perfectly wrapped up I still have the feeling that you get one an author releases a sneak peek of the first character of the book. And that´s what I love about Jen, in a short story and even in just a sentence, she is able to transport the reader to a fantasy world where everything is possible.

While reading  “Jump” I was so hooked in the story that when I finished it I kept trying to go to the next page because I needed more! It ended in the most interesting part! You can give me a bunch of hot guys and leader and then take them as fast as they came, I wanted more!

“I guess I have a thing for guys in leather, who knew?” -Jump

So it is a fun and fast pace read full of fantasy and men in leather...then why are you still there staring at the screen? Go and read it, you won´t regret it!

Tal vez dependería de quién estaba haciendo la  pregunta. Nuestra heroína tiene agallas y sentido del humor, sin embargo, sufre de un caso extremo de ropa inadecuada. Cuando las cosas toman un giro de peligroso a algo peor ¿qué hará cuando la fantasía se hace realidad? Advertencia: puede incluir hombres calientes vestidos en cuero, canto y demonios.

Opinión: Es una historia corta con una heroína descarada, divertida y de armas tomar. La historia comienza de una manera muy emocionante, llena de peligros e intriga. Llama la atención del lector desde la primera frase: “La voz de mi madre me vino a la cabeza: "¿Saltarías de un puente, si tal y cual te lo pidiera?"

Hasta el final, porque la historia de "Jump" tiene una estructura circular que encaja a la perfectamente, y da la sensación de perfección. Cada palabra y  acción cae en su lugar para crear  una sensación de continuidad. A pesar de que es una lectura rápida, la autora ha creado una historia tan llena de acción e intriga que me gustaría leer más acerca de estos personajes porque, aunque el final está perfectamente cerrado todavía tengo la sensación de que podría ser el adelanto de el primer capítulo de ¡ libro. Y eso es lo que me encanta de Jen, que en una historia corta e incluso en tan sólo una frase,  es capaz de transportar al lector a un mundo de fantasía donde todo es posible.

Durante la lectura de "Jump" estaba tan enganchada que cuando lo terminé me quedé tratando de pasar a la página siguiente porque ¡necesitaba más! ¡Se terminó en la parte más interesante! No me puedes dar un montón de chicos guapos  y luego llevártelos tan rápido como llegaron, ¡yo quería más!

"Creo que tengo algo por los chicos vestidos de cuero, quién se lo iba a imaginar."-Jump

Es una lectura con un ritmo rápido,  divertido y lleno de fantasía y de  hombres vestidos de cuero ... así que ¿por qué sigues ahí mirando a la pantalla? Ve y léelo, ¡no te arrepentirás!

Synopsis: Open your eyes to darkness. What do you see? Does the darkness frighten you? Now imagine the darkness being the cargo hold of a slave ship. Your city has fallen. Your family is most likely dead. You don't know anyone around you, and some of them aren't even human. Giving up would be so easy to do, but not for Arowyn Mason. Not after being raised in a military family with seven brothers. Every great story should begin with a plan. Aro's was to escape and to survive.

Escape comes, but at a price. As they reach the shore, Aro and the other survivors learn that freedom doesn't mean safety. The slavers want their property back and will do anything to get it. The party uses every ounce of their brute strength, a hearty helping of cunning, and even ancient magics to keep themselves alive. Sickness, danger, and even love surprise them at every turn. Dealing with danger becomes their way of life, but none of them ever considered that nothing can be quite as dangerous as a prophecy. Running turns into another race altogether as her world falls to pieces again and again.

Opinion: I  ventured into this reading not really knowing what to expect… A love story? An adventure book? Fantasy maybe? It turns out that Broken Aro is all those things combined in a captivating story of a young girl that is compelled to grow up too fast in order to survive.

When we first get to know our protagonist it is easy to presume that she is an overprotected fifteen-year old girl, an inexperienced child in a male world. It seems so up to a point; however as soon as the attacks to her hometown begin and she finds herself alone, we can see that, not only is she strong enough to handle it, but also turns out to be a very resourceful lady. Being raised with seven soldier brothers has taught her many things.

Nevertheless she manages to find two perfectly good ‘guardians’ on the way who play a protective role with her, and who are willing to risk their own safety for hers. Aro bonds instantly with Kei, a kind of step-brother to her but also gets strangely close to Prince, a very mysterious young boy. After all, how much suffering can a sweet teenager take on her own?

It is so easy to keep one’s attention and excitement while reading Broken Aro; as soon as the characters get close to a ‘comfortable’ situation when we somehow think they are safe, something unexpected happens, something that usually compromises Aro in some way and makes her keep the struggle for survival.

Great fantastic novel all in all, totally worth reading and a beautifully written ‘girl against the world’ story!

El grupo usa cada onza de su fuerza bruta, una ración abundante de astucia, e incluso antiguas magias para mantenerse con vida. Enfermedad, peligro, e incluso sorpresas a cada paso. Lidiar con el peligro se convierte en su forma de vida, pero ninguno de ellos considera que nada puede ser tan peligroso como una profecía. Correr se convierte en otra carrera en conjunto mientras su mundo se cae a pedazos otra vez.

Opinión: Me aventuré en esta lectura sin saber muy bien que esperar… ¿Una historia de amor? ¿Un libro de aventuras? ¿Fantasía quizás? Resulta que Broken Aro es todo eso combinado en una cautivadora historia sobre una joven que ha de crecer demasiado pronto para poder sobrevivir.

Cuando conocemos a la protagonista por primera vez es fácil asumir que es una quinceañera sobreprotegida, una niña en un mundo de hombres. Esa es la impresión que da hasta cierto punto; pero cuando los ataques a su ciudad empiezan y se encuentra sola, podemos ver como, no solo es lo suficientemente fuerte para sobrellevarlo, sino que es además una chica de recursos. Al fin y al cabo crecer con siete hermanos soldado le ha enseñado muchas cosas.

Aún así consigue encontrar dos ‘guardianes’ que actúan como sus protectores y que están dispuestos a poner en juego su propia seguridad por la de Aro. Enseguida conecta con Kei, que es algo así como su hermanastro, pero también tiene una extraña complicidad con Prince, un chico muy misterioso. Después de todo, ¿cuánto sufrimiento puede aguantar una adolescente sola?

Es muy sencillo mantener la atención y emoción en todo momento leyendo Broken Aro; en cuanto los personajes se aproximan a una situación ‘de comodidad’, cuando creen que están seguros al fin, algo inesperado ocurre; algo que normalmente compromete a Aro de alguna manera y la hace tener que seguir luchando por sobrevivir.

Es una estupenda novela fantástica; esta historia de ‘chica contra el mundo’ definitivamente merece la pena.

REVIEW: Witchstruck

Pero cuando todo el mundo se vuelve contra ella, Meg debe abrir su corazón a una opción peligrosa.

Opinión: Solicité el libro a través de Netgalley porque la portada me pareció muy bonita y porque siempre me ha interesado la brujería y la época de los Tudor, así que no pude resistirme a leer las 2 cosas juntas.

El libro está narrado desde el punto de vista de Meg, la protagonista de la historia. Meg me gustó como protagonista, pero me faltó saber un poco más de ella.

El ritmo narrativo es un poco lento y creo que a la autora le faltó hacer un poco más de investigación histórica. Porque yo sabía en que época estaba la historia, las fechas exacta porque he tenido que estudiar la época de los Tudor pero para cualquier otro lector la información proporcionada es muy poca. Una vez que comienza la acción el libro pasa muy rápido.

Me gustó mucho que incorporara personajes españoles, que fue una de las razones por las que solicité el libro.

Me encantó que la autora diera un nuevo giro a la época de los Tudor y que se centrará en Elizabeth en vez de en Henry VIII, fue algo totalmente refrescante de leer. Y es que cuando estaba estudiando los Tudor hace un par de años, todo se centraba alrededor de cuantas mujeres había tenido Henry VIII. Una de las cosas que más me gustó del libro fueron las interacciones entre Meg y Alejandro y es que me encanta ver por una vez que un español puede ser educado y romántico, y es que los españoles siempre aparecemos como los malos. Me encantaría haber leído algo de la Inquisición española ya que es algo que marcó la historia.La religión juega un papel muy importante y me faltó un poco de introducción histórica sobre porqué estaban en “guerra” los católicos y protestantes.

Estoy deseando ver cómo será la vida en la corte, un sitio lleno de peligros y misterios para Meg. Y saber que pasa con Marcus Dent. Me encanta leer libros que se centran en temas innovadores y no en los clásicos juveniles. Si queréis leer algo refrescante con toques de misterio y amor definitivamente tenéis que leer Witchstruck. Estoy deseando el leer  Witchfall, el segundo libro de esta trilogía y saber algo más de Meg y Alejandro.

Opinion: I requested the book through Netgalley because the cover seemed very nice and because I've always been interested in witchcraft and  the Tudor times, so I could not resist reading both things together.

The book is narrated from Meg´s point of view, the protagonist of the story. I liked Meg as a protagonist, but I would have liked to know a little more about her.

The narrative pace is a bit slow and I think the author needed to do a little historical research. Because I knew that history period and  the exact dates because I had to study the Tudor but for any other reader that is very little information. Once the action begins the book moves very fast.

I liked that it incorporates Spanish characters, which was one of the reasons why I requested the book.

I loved that the author gave a new air to the Tudor history and for her to focus on Elizabeth  instead on Henry VIII, it was totally refreshing to read a new perspective. Because when I was studying the Tudors a couple of years ago, everything was centered around how many women  Henry VIII had. One of the things I liked about the book weere the interactions between Meg and Alejandro and I loved to see for once a Spanish being portrayed as an educated and romantic man, because is  Spanish usually appear as the bad boys. I would love to have read something about  the Spanish Inquisition as it is something that marked the history.Religion plays a very important role and it lacked a bit of historical introduction about why they were at "war" Catholics and Protestants.

I'm excited to see what life will be in court because it´s a place full of dangers and mysteries for Meg. And know what will  happen with Marcus Dent. I love reading books that focus on innovative topics instead  of the cliché young adults. So if you want to read something refreshing with hints of mystery and love you should definitely have to read Witchstruck.

I look forward to reading Witchfall, the second book in this trilogy and know more about Meg and Alejandro.
