Title: Attraction (Hypothesis #1)
Author: Penny Reid
Synopsis: One week. Private beach. Invisible girl. Jerk-faced bully. What’s the worst that could happen? Kaitlyn Parker has no problem being the invisible girl, which is why she finds herself hiding in various cabinets and closets all over her college campus. Despite her best efforts, she can’t escape the notice of Martin Sandeke—bad boy, jerkface bully, and the universe’s hottest, wealthiest, and most unobtainable bachelor—who also happens to be Kaitlyn’s chemistry lab partner. Kaitlyn might be the only girl who isn’t interested in exploiting his stunning rower’s build, chiseled features, and family's billionaire fortune. Kaitlyn wants Martin for his brain, specifically to tabulate findings of trace elements in surface water. When Kaitlyn saves Martin from a nefarious plot, Martin uses the opportunity to push Kaitlyn out of her comfort zone: spring break, one week, house parties, bathing suits, and suntan lotion. Can she overcome her aversion to being noticed? Will he be able grow beyond his self-centered nature? Or, despite their obvious chemistry, will Martin be the one to drive Kaitlyn into the science cabinet of obscurity for good?
My Review:
I loved this book so much that since I
finished it yesterday I´ve been recommending it like a crazy person to all my
friends! Attraction is undoubtedly one of the best books I´ve ever had the
pleasure to read and I am certain that it will make it to my favourite reads
from 2015, it is soooo good!!!
I am utterly fascinated by Penny Reid,
there I said it. Her written is beyond amazing, it is witty, smart, fresh,
funny and unique. I was so hooked up into the story that I didn´t realize it
was 6 am when I finished the book, so I am working with 3 hours of sleep but it
was so worth it! I literally couldn´t put it down. Though take my advice before
reading Attraction if you are not a patient person, get Heat at the same time
cause if you don´t you are going to die over the cliffhanger. I swear that it
left me speechless, fortunately for me 2 days ago I received the Heat ARC so it
calmed my mini-heart attack xD
The story may seem cliché at first. Nerd
girl and sporty guy stories have been written a lot lately but she turned this
story 360 degrees over. Kaitlyn the main female character is so independent,
strong, smart and down-to-earth that you can avoid loving her. She has become
one of my favourite female characters. She is hilarious, I loved being in her
mind, her conversations with Martin cracked me up every time. I loved reading
about a female characters that doesn´t accept shit from the male character that
establishes ground rules and doesn´t fall all over him, she makes him really
work for it.
Martin is so different from the male
characters I am used to read. I loved him so much, it is hard to get him
sometimes cause I think he doesn´t even get himself xD He gave me the feels, it
is such a rush to read a book where the man is the one pursuing the girl because
he has fallen for her before she notices.
Attraction is the second book I´ve read
from Penny Reid and I already love her. Last summer I met her at the RARE Event
in Edinburgh and she was really nice to me, if I had known she was such a
talented writer or read any of her books prior meeting her I would have
fangirled so hard!!! It´s a pity she won´t be attending this week signing, I
was really excited about meeting her again.
So concluding my praise for this book all
I have left to said is that you must go and buy a copy, because you will love
every minute of it and the afterwards and the in between. Really,
go and give it a chance!
About Penny Reid:
SEX! It all started with sex, between my parents. Personally I don’t like thinking about it, but whatever works for you is a-ok with me. No judgment. The sex happened in California and much of my life also occurred in that state until I moved from the land of nuts (almonds), wine, silicon… boobs, and heavy traffic to the southeast US. Like most writers I like to write, but let’s get back to sex. Eventually I married and gave birth to 2 small people-children (boy-6, girl-4 as of this writing).
By day I’m a biomedical researcher with focus on rare diseases. By night I’m a knitter, sewer, lino block carver, fabric printer, soap maker, and general crafter. By the wee hours of the morning or when I’m intoxicated I love to listen to the voices in my head and let them tell me stories. I hope you enjoy their stories.
