Autor: Heather L. Reid
Editorial: Month9 Books
Title: Pretty Dark Nothing
Author: Heather L. Reid
Editorial: Month9 Books
Synopsis: It’s been twenty three days since Quinn has slept for more than minutes
at a time. Demons have invaded her dreams, stalking her, and whispering of her
death. The lack of sleep and crippling fear are ruining her life. Energy drinks
and caffeine pills don’t make a dent. When Quinn dozes off in the school
hallway, Aaron, an amnesiac with a psychic ability, accidentally enters her
nightmare. The demons are determined to keep them apart, and Aaron from
discovering the secret locked away in his memory. Together, they could banish
the darkness back to the underworld for good. That is, unless the demons kill
them first.
MY FAVOURITE CHARACTER: Aaron is the perfect male protagonist. He's sweet, he
has a great sense of honor, he is handsome ,he has fantastic green eyes and he is madly in
love with Quinn. From the moment he appears, he is the light in Quinn´s dark
life.
Opinion: I had the opportunity to read this book through NetGalley. I must say that I requested it by its cover, because it is beautiful. Later I read the synopsis and decided to give it a try because it seemed that it would be a book full of secrets, and the truth is that I was not disappointed at all.
From the first paragraph I was hooked in the book. The author creates an atmosphere of suspense and mystery through the words, the story is very smooth and dark. The whole atmosphere of the book is absorbing, you can feel the oppression that the characters felt, you see the darkness they live and how they try to fight it.
The two main characters evolve throughout the book. Quinn is watching how her life is falling apart, until she sees Aaron, the mysterious boy who appeared while her nightmares did. Aaron is the light in the darkness of Quinn and the only one who seems to understand her, but both are hiding a secret that can destroy their short relationship.
The book itself surprised me, the end is nothing like how I imagined and it was the only thing I did not like. I hope the author will make a continuation of the book because if not I´ll be seriously angry. I hate open endings.
I recommend this book for those of you that want a bit of mystery and supernatural events. And it is a refreshing change from what seems to be an avalanche of dystopian novels.
