James Dean is the image of the teenage rebel thanks to his famous movie Rebel Without a Cause, where he plays Jim Stark, a problematic guy.
Dean only starred in three movies and he actually did not play the role of a young rebel in the other two, but this is how we remember him because it was an unprecedented phenomenon. But if you don't stay on the appearance of James Dean, if you do some research, analyze his performances and appearances on interviews, if you read about his life... you will find out that he was not just the rebellious adolescent he played on screen. Dean died at age 24 and however, his personality, his way of thinking and performing are closer to an experienced man with great judgement . He was labelled as a weird, different, eccentric guy... Many people he worked with had said how difficult it was to work with him for his unpredictable way of behaving. But many more have praised him with the passing of time. He represented a change in performance and this could only be done by a special person, someone who saw things differently from ordinary people, a real artist.
But lets focus on the bad boy image. When we think about James Dean, the first thing that pops into our mind is the leather jacket, the jeans and the cigarrette on his mouth. But apart from his role in Rebel Without a Cause, he was also kind of advanced for his age when it comes to his style. And he was obviously a trendsetter too. Since then that image has been a symbol of rebelliousness, as himself, and many actors have been labelled as 'the new James Dean' through the years. But there are many reasons why it was him who became a leyend and we could not go through all of them in this review. But it is him who inaugurates this section because in a Bad Boys list, he was essential (although I would have probably found any excuse to put him in whatever kind of list we had done :D).
And to conclude, we had to include one of his quotes, and though this is probably the most famous one of him and it is not very original, I just couldn't help picking it, simply because it describes in just one line how ideal life would be.
"Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die today"
