Plight
[plahyt]
Noun: a difficult, or otherwise unfortunate
situation.
Verb: pledge or solemnly promise. Be engaged to be
married.
I promised
myself to a man. Well, technically, I promised myself to a boy. We were eight
years old. Neighbours. He gave me a Cheezel, pushed it onto my finger, and
asked me to marry him.
I ate the
Cheezel.
I also
said, “Yes” but that we’d have to wait until we were thirty.
It was my
thirtieth birthday last week and now he’s calling in that promise.
Seriously,
Elliot Parker is insane if he thinks
that an out of the blue private Facebook message stipulating the binding law of
an oral contractual agreement is going to seal our twenty-two-year bullshit
engagement.
Insane.
I wonder if
he really does look like his profile picture, though.

Ok, soo, I'm a little torn about the book, because there are part that I absolutely loved, and other parts that didn't convince me.First of all, Danielle and Elliott make a great couple <3 As their mums said, they are made for each other. Their chemistry is off the chart, their banter is hilarious, and you can see that they are really at ease and comfortable with each other. One of my favourite parts was the visit to the Zoo, so so funny!
And Chris, oh, I love him! He's a friend of Danielle, and absolutely fundamental in solving a difficult situation toward the end of the book. The reason personified, we could say.
As far as the not so positive parts, the main ones are the followings (sorry, a little bit of spoilers):
1) near the end of the book, Danielle and Elliott's relationship encounters a bump in the road. Well, while reading these chapters, I got mad with both Elliott and Danielle. Elliott because, after his unwavering pursue of Danielle, is caught by doubts about something that could have been solved and explained with a simple and quick discussion!
And Danielle because of her reaction to one bad day with Elliott. I totally understand her past issues, but Elliott is Elliott, her best friend, her confident, the man she loves with all her heart... not event a little benefit of the doubt??
2) the quick and abrupt passage from the "I'm mad with you" moment to the "Let's get married" moment. Danielle and Elliott don't speak to each other for some weeks, they don't talk about their problems, and bam, let's get married? Mmmm, a little too sudden.
I know that both Elliott and Danielle talked individually to Chris, who made them think about what was happening, but they didn't talk to each other! they didn't explain the reasons behind their actions. I felt like something was amiss.
