This was the first book I read by Zoe York and I enjoyed it. It wasn't the best book I've ever read but it was an entertaining and somewhat light read for the cold winter evenings ;)
Jake and Dani are definitely an interesting couple. I loved that they fell for each other years ago but each one of them was fighting the attraction because of their own reasons. The fated to be together vibe I got was one of the things I really like in romance books. I definitely enjoyed the verbal sparring between Jake and Dani and damn... they definitely have quite some sexual chemistry between them. And the result of that were some really hot scenes :)
On one hand, I really loved Jake. He is romantic, tender, but he is also dominant, protective, possessive and all those delicious treats that make him the perfect alpha male :) Yes, he did need a push to go after the woman he loves but once he made that decision, everything else was secondary to him. And let me tell you, a man building a house for the woman he love, even before they are a couple, is definitely something that can make me swoon :)
On the other hand, I was getting quite frustrated with Dani from time to time. In my opinion she wasn't exactly consistent in what she wants. She wants a relationship with Jake and at the same time she wants to keep it a secret. Quite often it felt that at the smallest problem she will just leave him. It is true that they did have quite a bump on the road to their HEA but I would still think that if she loved Jake as much as she was claiming, she would've been hurt but not shutting him down. Ok, she did come to her senses quite fast but in my eyes it made her feel a little bit immature. That's not to say that I didn't enjoy the story :)
In a few words, the book is good. If you are looking for a good and sweet romance novel with a pinch of hot scenes then you should check this story out :) I am pretty sure that you will enjoy it :) And Jake and Dani are such a cute couple that you will fall in love with them :) In my case, I will be probably checking the rest of the books in the series as I got intrigued by the rest of the characters :)
