Title: Razed (The Barnes Brothers #2)
Author: Shiloh Walker
Release Date: December 2nd, 2014
Synopsis:
Tattoo artist Keelie Jessup can handle that someone else has claimed the man of her dreams. She’s just not pleased with her remaining options…
Keelie doesn’t believe in the “perfect man.” But the men who are worth the trouble are usually taken—like her business partner Zach Barnes. After a string of bad luck and the lost chance with Zach, Keelie decides that maybe flying solo-and living with suppressed desires-is the key to happiness.
As a photographer, Zane Barnes has an eye for the human form, and his eyes can’t get enough of Keelie’s curves. Unfortunately, Keelie is like most women-always fawning over his little brother, Zach. Zane is about ready to give up, but then a few stolen moments at his brother’s wedding have him thinking maybe there’s a chance there after all. Now he just has to prove that the perfect man does exist… for her.

My Review:
That was one amazingly good book. I have to confess that I haven't read a lot of Shiloh Walker's work but it is definitely I am going to rectify soon. This story simply touched my heart and brought tears to my eyes on more than one occasions. I feel obliged to warn you though. If you are looking for a fun, sexy and careless read, you should keep looking. This book is heartbreaking. Yes, there is a HEA ending and both main characters are easy to fall in love with, but they also have so much pain in their pasts. A darkness that still rules their lives, in a way. Especially Keelie's.
At first glance, Zane and Keelie are complete opposites. Zane is this sexy guy with pantie melting blue green eyes, body of a god and somewhat geekie look. Keelie is tattooed to an inch of her body has a somewhat punk look and tough look about herself. But somehow they fit perfectly together. I enjoyed immensely getting to know each one of them through out the book and finding all the small ways in which they are alike: from their favorite movie to the scars left from their childhood. I loved seeing Keelie open up little by little and finally letting Zane in. I think he was exactly what she needed to break out of her self imposed prison. He was the perfect guy to break her walls and bring her into the light. Shiloh Walker definitely did an amazing job in bringing these characters to life. They felt so real. And I think that's the main reason the book touched me so deeply.
I also enjoyed the fun scenes between the brothers or between Keelie and Zane. And damn!!! There were some scenes between Keelie and Zane that were just sizzling hot. All that nicely balanced the heartbreaking and crushing scenes where Keelie and Zane reveal their pasts. I loved the small glimpses I got of the rest of the Barnes brothers and I can't wait to read some more about them :)
In a few words, the book is awesome. Yes, it is not a fun and carefree story to read but it definitely deserves your time. The writing is superb and once I started reading I simply couldn't put the book down. I am pretty sure that you will experience the same :) In my case I am impatiently waiting for the next book in the series :)
