About the Author:

UK based, bestselling Indie author of contemporary romance … otherwise known as elegantly filthy erotica. Shoeaholic. Introvert. Prude. Teetotaler. Compulsive Liar!!

UK bestselling author of the Rouge Passion and Orion the Hunter series. Not your average romance novelist ... but then, who wants to be average?

I love reading - almost as much as I love writing.. I relish the sheer escapism of losing myself in a book that grips me and takes me on an emotional roller coaster. I regularly mourn the passing of a good book - am I the only one who turns the pages more slowly when you don’t want a great book to end?

I love a good steamy romance and I adore sexy alpha males. I also have more than a passing interest in BDSM (nod, nod … wink, wink). One day, I put pen to paper (well fingers to keyboard, actually) and the Orion the Hunter series was born. Little did I know that, at that moment, I was sewing the seeds of change. For, just a few months later, as a somewhat bewildered Amazon Kindle bestselling Indie author, I quit my career as an education professional to write full time. Scary stuff, I think you’ll agree.

2013 was a very difficult year for me for personal reasons. It taught me how fragile life is and how important it is to grab it with both hands and ride the hell out of it. So in 2014, I began my comeback with the Amazon #1 Bestselling Erotica/Romantic Erotica bestselling series, Rouge Passion. I also met many of my favourite authors and so many lovely readers at my first signing event in Edinburgh. I flipped Stu Reardon’s kilt! Happy days …

I have big plans for 2015. I’m signing at several more author events around the UK and I’m pouring my heart and soul into what I consider my best series yet - by far! Cue Passion Noire, a three part series revolving around La Veuve Noire - a sexual therapist by day and a desirable Domme by night. But fear not, sexy alphas are still on the menu. I mean … this is me!

If you've read my review of the first book in the Passion Noire series, you know that I loved that book and I got really invested in the characters stories. Well, this second book didn't disappoint at all. Starting exactly where the first one finished, Falloir is even better than Vouloir. At least in my opinion. I loved getting sucked even deeper in La Veuve Noire's life and the people she cares about. This second book also had some more suspense which made it that much better for me.

One of my favorite parts of this book was getting more insight into the Kid and his past. I have to say that I had tears in my eyes for quite a big part of the book written from his POV. I loved seeing how little by little he opens more and more to the rest of the world. He fights to get past the hell he lived in as a teenager and at the same time he tries to get his family together again. The surprises that J.D. Chase threw in in that aspect and also with respect to the other characters were so unexpected that definitely kept me glued to the book and kept me invested in their stories.

It was quite interesting to read how things between La Veuve Noire and Jones develop. Both of them continue to be amazing and interesting characters. The chemistry between them is still off the charts and things between them just get more and more complicated. Even though they are both dominant, they have an undeniable connection that definitely rises the question how things will be solved between them. Me personally, I am rooting for them to find a way to be together. There is just something in Jones that I think will help Veuve to finally heal. He is this dominant, strong alpha male but he has this tender and softer side that makes him  simply irresistible.

So yes, in a few words, this series is a must read. It is intriguing and interesting. The characters are amazing and at least in my case, I felt like they were real people, like they were my friends. And considering how this second part finished, I can't wait for the third book to be out. I do have some ideas what will probably happen but considering how many times I was surprised so far, I am probably wrong. So if you are looking for not your typical read, full with surprises and unexpected turns, with incredibly well developed and interesting characters, and of course superb writing, then you should read the Passion Noire series. I can guarantee that you won't be disappointed :)

Review & Giveaway: Vouloir (Passion Noire #1) by J.D. Chase

Title: Vouloir
Series: Passion Noire #1
Author: J. D. Chase
Publication Date: February 26th, 2015
Synopsis:

Vouloir: French meaning ‘to want’.

Want:
To have a desire to possess something or someone;
To have a strong desire to do something;
To wish for something or someone;
To desire sexually;
To require something to be attended to in a particular manner.

Sexual Therapist by day and desirable Domme by night, La Veuve Noire is struggling to keep up with demand for her services. Whether it’s fixing them up or tying them down, Veuve’s skills are legendary. Juggling her demanding roles with looking after a mysterious nineteen year old, the Kid, her life is a balancing act. But the tart with a heart cannot resist taking on ‘just one more’ client. The problem is, there’s always ‘just one more’ client, and each one appears more needy than the last. Like Dean, the barman who’s taken advantage of his drunken boss and has to face up to being a flop between the sheets. Like Dan, a teenager in crisis who is contemplating the unthinkable.

Juggling so much inevitably means that something gets dropped occasionally. La Veuve Noire, The Black Widow, hates to fail at anything and like everything in life, the higher the stakes, the greater the potential loss. With everyone turning to her in sheer desperation, she turns to her usual means of escape: the club, Vouloir.

But Vouloir now holds a reminder of a distant past she strives to forget. Blond hair, blue eyes and unmistakable dominance tinged with danger. Is Jones the key to the Kid’s future? Or will he simply unlock the painful past?

This three part series runs post/parallel to Rouge Passion but can be read as a standalone series.

WARNING: CONTAINS MATURE CONTENT SUITABLE FOR MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY. CONTAINS BDSM ELEMENTS AND POTENTIAL TRIGGERS FOR SOME READERS.

J. D. Chase is still a relatively new author to me. I've read and loved  Orion the Hunter last year and so I decided that it's about time to read some of her other books. That's how I decided on reading Vouloir. And this book definitely confirmed for me that I love J. D. Chase's writing. I was captivated from the beginning. Even though the story is not my usual type of book (you probably know by now that I love fast paced romantic suspense), I still loved it. I thoroughly enjoyed the psychological part of the story and the development of the characters.

In the beginning of the book when I got introduced to La Veuve Noire, I wasn't sure what to expect from the character and to be honest, I wasn't even sure whether I would like the story. But my opinion changed almost immediately. La Veuve Noire is quite a complex character with so many layers that even after reading the first book, I am not sure that I know everything about her. Her story is definitely heartbreaking and I admire her strength and compassion. Surviving what she did survive is something that a lot of people couldn't have and probably would have given up on their life long before she managed to escape. Her background explains a lot about her way of life and her reactions towards the people around her. Especially her demeanor  towards Jones and the Kid. And even in a way towards Dean.

Dean is definitely an interesting character but I can definitely say that he is not a favorite of mine. It was interesting to read how he recognizes his problems with the help of Veuve but I am not so fond of his reaction to her and I have to say that I am a little bit scared to find out what will happen in the end with him.

The character I was most intrigued by was Jones. He is the typical dominant and protective alpha male with a special soft spot for the Kid and Veuve. Their interactions are always interesting and intriguing. The connection between Jones and the Kid is undeniable but I have to say that I never expected the reasons behind it. J. D. Chase definitely managed to pull one on me with that one. But for me the relationship that kept my interest is the one between Veuve and Jones. Their conversations are always filled with sexual tension and the chemistry between them is simply off the charts. I thoroughly enjoyed reading how their interactions change with time and I have to say that I can't wait to see what will happen next.

In a few words, the book is impressively well written and even though it is not filled with danger and suspense (at least at that point), the characters and the story are so intriguing that they just kept me glued to the book. And when I finished the last page I was just craving more. That's why I am directly diving into Falloir. I just need to know what happens next with LaVeuve Noire, The Kid, Jones and Dean :) So in my opinion, if you haven't read anything by J.D. Chase so far, Vouloir is a perfect place to start. I am pretty sure, you won't regret it.
