My Review:
I've read all of A.M. Madden's books and I've enjoyed each one of them. This one wasn't an exception. It as an intriguing story of second chances, jealousy, heartbreak and the strength of a love worthy of a "romance novel" :D The characters are complex and well developed and the story in itself is masterfully written. No matter what you think is going to happen, simply be prepared to be surprised.
Initially, I wasn't a big fan of Sam. To be honest, I really thought he was a prick. And with the little information that was given about Lidia, I wasn't crazy about her either. But once, their past was really revealed, I really fell for them. The heartbreak they went through as teenagers, explained a lot of their life choices and their behaviour. I suppose finding your soul mate when you are 16, is not something you expect to happen. And being betrayed in the worst way possible, by a person you trust is not something you learn how to get over with. The lies and games that separated Sam and Lidia broke them in a way that it can be only healed with the help of each other. And it takes them years, countless hours of heartbreak, anger, tears and devastation for them to find their way back to each other and finally uncover the truth. There were times when I wanted to cry with Lidia or hit Sam with something heavy so he can get his marbles in place, and there were even times when I laughed with them. And I loved every single moment of it.
So if I have to summarise, the book is intriguing and heartbreaking, fun and hopeful. It is the story of two people who found each other as teenagers and were separated in the most devastating way. It is the story of their second chance at love, their second chance at happiness. So don't waste time and #oneclick this great story.
