Review
"He Loves Me... KNOT" was a really good read, simple but effective, we could say.
I think it might be my favourite book by RC Boldt :)
This story, simply put, is a second chance story between Emma Jane and Knox. They were high school (if not middle school) sweethearts and were on the verge of getting married when Emma Jane left Knox at the altar.
The first half of the book sees an alternation between chapters set in the past and chapters set in the present. I liked the ones in the past because they gave a little insight of the relationship between Emma Jane and Knox when they were younger, and those chapters were interesting without being too long or confusing.
I liked that we get to know the details of what happened bit by bit, little by little. It kept me curious and on my toes.
For sure we can say that Knox and EJ are made for each other, real soul mates. The way their second chance story developed was really good, with progress and setbacks as we could expect.
There are two things that didn't convince really much:
- the intern plot. I get that it was needed to create a specific situation, but honestly it felt a little forced (in the storyline, I mean). And I get that Knox has trust issues, but we're talking about business here, and you believe an intern about such an important thing? Mmmm.
- The reason behind Emma Jane's behaviour on the day of their marriage. It seemed a little immature to me, and rushed, especially considering their past history, the fact that they were together for a really long time. I also get why she thought bad of Knox (because of her dad, and this is also something that for me was not developed enough, but anyway), but honestly I would have thought she would have given him the benefit of doubt. On this subject, I completely agree with Knox and his reaction.
