Title: Singe
Author: Aly Martinez
Synopsis: She was my nightmare. Every time I closed my eyes, I watched her fall into that inferno. Over and over, I failed to save her. I hadn’t been able to reach her, and the guilt only burned hotter over time. Four years later, I was the unreachable one. Heroes aren’t always saints. Sometimes, we’re nothing more than jaded sinners driven by sleepless nights and hearts full of darkness. And then I met her. She was a dreamer who managed to soothe my scars and heal my wounds. But, as the flames closed in around us, I feared I wasn’t the right man to save her. That is until I realized she was the one woman I’d burn the world down to protect.
Every book by Aly Martinez is a masterpiece that will completely suck you into her new world. This story was a bit crazy but so reliable and it had me hooked from the beginning. Singe is a standalone novel that is part of what seems to be an addictive and steamy new series.
I have to say that it took me some time to get the characters because they are really complex and have a depth in them that sometimes makes it hard to connect with them. This is one of the few romance books where the romance was shadowed by the thriller a mystery surrounding it all. I was more interested in finding out all of the hidden secrets in its pages than in knowing what will happen between the main set of characters. The whole reading experience was dramatic and full of twists and turns that led into the unexpected.
I absolutely cannot wait to get my hands in the new installment series since the future main characters left me wanting more and more.
