About the Author:
Best-selling Author Marni Mann knew she was going to be a writer since middle school. While other girls her age were daydreaming about teenage pop stars, Mann was fantasizing about penning her first novel. She crafts sexy, titillating stories that weave together her love of darkness, mystery, passion, and human emotion. A New Englander at heart, she now lives in Sarasota, Florida with her husband and their two dogs who subsequently have been characters in her books. When she's not nose deep in her laptop working on her next novel, she's scouring for chocolate, sipping wine, traveling to new locations, and devouring fabulous books.
My Review:
I haven't read anything by Marnie Mann so far so when I got the opportunity, I jumped on it. And I am definitely happy I did that :) The plot was definitely interesting. With twists and turns that I was definitely not expecting and an erotic flavor that definitely increased my temperature. The characters were quite interesting and well developed with a lot of depth. They were definitely easy to connect to and made it easy experience their feelings and thoughts. Even though the basics of the story are not unique, the combination of the catchy plot and realistic characters, made it quite interesting and also different from all the romantic books with an erotic flavor out there.
Derek is definitely a mouthwatering hottie. With his milk chocolate curls and intense electric blue eyes, he is definitely pantie melting. I am usually not too much into the whole beard thing but he did make it sound hot ;) He is also smart and dominant and apart from all the dirty talk that will leave you breathless, the smart banter between him and Frankie is definitely quite fun and stimulating. But Derek also has a painful past that still haunts him and the ghosts from it can destroy everything he has build professionally and the budding relationship between him and Frankie.
Frankie is also quite an interesting character. With her dark hair, gunmetal eyes and charming personality, she is definitely a stunner :) On the surface she is strong, independent and ready to fight for everything she values in her life. And a big part of that is her carrier and her father's trust and respect. On the inside, her heart has bee shattered and she is still trying to collect the pieces after the betrayal and pain she had to live through. Even though she wants to leave the past where it is, it simply doesn't want to stay there. That only leaves her doubting everything in her life and the things she craves in her heart. When she meets Derek, he sees behind her walls to the magnificent woman inside. And he is definitely ready to chase her. If he is the hunter, Frankie is his prey. And let me tell you, that makes for some quite explosive encounters :) In the end, I have to say that I was definitely happy they both found their perfect other half. Something neither of them was looking for or even wanted at that moment.
In a few words, this series was definitely quite a good read. And considering it is separated in five somewhat short episodes, you can easily read as little or as much as you want. Just be ready for some cliffhangers on the way if you decide to read an episode at a time :) As a whole, I am quite happy that I encountered Marni Mann as an author and I would be definitely checking her other work. Andif you haven't read anything by her yet, then I think that the Timber Towers Series is the perfect place to start :)
