Title: High Strung
Series: Power Station #1
Author: T. Gephart
Publication Date: October 10th, 2014
Synopsis:

Ashlyn Murphy was not living the dream. Twenty-seven years old, college educated, up to her eyeballs in debt and yet she’d been relegated to pouring beers at a local bar. She desperately needed an out and was willing to do anything to get back into the corporate world. Well, almost anything. Dan Evans, Rock Star was NOT one of those things. In fact she despised him. Apparently he didn’t get the memo.

Dan Evans, bass player of international rock band Power Station had it all. He was rich, travelled the world, played to millions of adoring fans and had no shortage of beautiful women willing to share his bed. He didn’t need a moody redheaded knockout with a superiority complex complicating his life. Or did he?

When two people who couldn’t be more opposite cross paths, it’s bound to be explosive; sometimes all you can do is sit back and enjoy the show.

About the Author:

T Gephart is an indie author from Melbourne, Australia.

T's approach to life has been somewhat unconventional. Rather than going to University, she jumped on a plane to Los Angeles, USA in search of adventure. While this first trip left her somewhat underwhelmed and largely depleted of funds it fueled her appetite for travel and life experience.

With a rather eclectic resume, which reads more like the fiction she writes than an actual employment history, T struggled to find her niche in the world.

While on a subsequent trip the United States in 1999, T met and married her husband. Their whirlwind courtship and interesting impromptu convenience store wedding set the tone for their life together, which is anything but ordinary. They have lived in Louisiana, Guam and Australia and have travelled extensively throughout the US. T has two beautiful young children and one four legged child, Woodley the wonder dog.

An avid reader, T became increasingly frustrated by the lack of strong female characters in the books she was reading. She wanted to read about a woman she could identify with, someone strong, independent and confident who didn't lack femininity. Out of this need, she decided to pen her first book, A Twist of Fate. She enjoyed the process so much that when it was over she couldn't let it go.

T loves to travel, laugh and surround herself with colourful characters. This inevitably spills into her writing and makes for an interesting journey - she is well and truly enjoying the ride!

Based on her life experiences, T has plenty of material for her books and has a wealth of ideas to keep you all enthralled.

My Review:

I have no idea what possessed me not to read anything by T. Gephart up till now. I've met her at few signings and I was always thinking that I should read some of her books because she is so awesome in person but somehow that never happened up till now. And let me tell you. I am so glad I corrected my mistake. I simply loved High Strung and the Power Station crew :) The story is definitely intriguing, well written and full with heartbreaking and comedic scenes that balance each other quite well. The characters are also amazing. They are not perfect and have their own flaws that make them feel real :)

Dan and Ash are definitely two quite unique characters. I enjoyed their interactions so much and I had so much fun reading how their relationship develops :D Some of their time together was just hilarious :D Ash is a very confident women with a 10 year plan what her life is supposed to be. She has her mind set on everything. From the job she will have to the man she is going to marry. And love is not a part of all that. Well, as all well thought plans, hers doesn't work as well. And at fault is one very sexy bass player with a passion for chasing women and a dirty mouth that can either piss you off or increase you temperature from 0 to 100 in exactly 0.3 seconds :D If you haven't figured it out by now, I am talking about one Dan Evans, the bass player of Power Station. He is pretty much everything Ash despises but somehow she cannot stay away. And with every minute she spends with him, her opinion of the bad boy changes little by little :)

Dan is pretty much the ultimate example of a bad boy rock star :) He has a dirty mouth, different girl in his arms every night and pretty much doesn't care about all the bad publicity he creates with his exploits :D Well, all that changes the moment he meets one Ashlyn Murphy. Somehow she manages to catch his eye and convert the bad boy into a devoted boyfriend in the span of few seconds :) The moment he sees her, Dan knows that she is different and that there is an undeniable connection between them. And thanks to faith he gets the chance to show her that he can be a different man, her perfect other half :) Of course that doesn't happen without a healthy dose of tears and laughs. And of course we shouldn't forget the help of their best friend :)

Talking about the best friends, I really loved Troy and Megs and I can't wait to read their story in Crash Ride. I definitely think that it will be another great book :)

So in a few words, I really enjoyed this story. It is not the usual romantic suspense book I love but it was still a great read. I am definitely glad that I finally picked a book by T. Gephart. It was one of the best decisions I've made lately :) I am immediately diving in the next book of the series :) I simply need to find out what will happen between Troy and Megs. They are such fun characters :) In case you haven't read any of T Gephart's books up till now, I think that High Strung will be definitely a good start. Although, you might want to start with the Lexy Series, as it actually tell's the story of another of the band members and it is the one that also introduces all the characters. In my case, I will be diving into those books once I am done with the power station ones :) And just because I loved this story, I will finish my review in a somewhat different way this time and give you my favorite quote of the book :)

"I had spent my life up until this point planning for perfection, avoiding the extraordinary, and playing it safe. I thought it would make me happy and give me a good life. What I couldn't have planned for, was meeting a man who was so exceptional it would redefine my expectations.
Life isn't about the perfect plan. It's about the perfect storm that engulfs you when you're busy living it."
