REVIEW: Discovery

I get this book through Netgalley. I requested it because lately I´ve been reading books related to Halloween, and Discovery definitely fits in that group: Salem and witches. And also because of the cover, I´m hopeless when I see a beautiful cover.

The prologue is a punch in the face. In a couple of pages the author has been able to create a powerful story line and in those few pages I also became Team Jason. The plot hooks you from the very beginning, and I was really enjoying the book till Seth appeared. In my mind I´ve already graded it with a 4/5 because though there were some grammatical mistakes( many times there were words together: likethis),  I was going to pass because maybe it was an edition mistake. But I hated to read Seth dialogues, he speaks in a kind of Irish way and a lot of times I couldn´t understand him; and there is an inconstancy in  this because in the end, Seth speaks perfectly proper RP English, which was  a relieve but it didn´t follow the previous pattern. If you speak with an accent you had it in the beginning and at the end, you don´t lose it in the middle of the book.

I enjoyed the book, and the book has a solid base to became a really good witch read with some minor changes. I think Theagan fought very little to bring Jason back. The book is too fast paced, some things are poorly explained. All the war between Electi and Invidia appears in a sudden, I hope this will be explained better in the following books.

The secondary characters such Lark, Gran or Celeste are the ones that bring the twists and turns to this story. Discovery is full of unexpected discoveries that the reader will enjoy.

I really think Discovery has the fundamental basis of a good book and despite the flaws I have found I would recommend it.

 Recibí este libro a través Netgalley, lo pedí porque últimamente he estado leyendo libros relacionados con Halloween, y Discovery definitivamente encaja en ese grupo : Salem y brujas . Y también por la cubierta, no puedo resistirme cuando veo una portada bonita.

El prólogo es como un puñetazo en la cara. En un par de páginas , la autora ha sido capaz de crear una historia poderosa y en esas pocas páginas  también me hice del equipo de Jason . La trama engancha desde el principio, y  estaba disfrutando el libro hasta que Seth apareció . En mi mente  ya había puntuado el libro con un 4/ 5 porque aunque había algunos errores gramaticales ( muchas veces había eran palabras juntas : DeEstaManera ) de los cuales iba a pasar , porque tal vez era un error de edición. Pero odiaba leer los diálogos de Seth , habla en una especie de acento de Irlanda y muchas veces no lo podía entender , y hay una inconsistencia en esto porque  al final, Seth habla un inglés perfecto, lo cual es un alivio pero no sigue el patrón anterior. Si hablas con un acento al principio y al final , no se puede ir perdiendo en la mitad del libro.
Me gustó mucho el libro , y tiene una base sólida y sería una muy buena lectura con algunos cambios menores . Creo que Teagan luchó muy poco para traer a Jason de vuelta. El libro tiene un ritmo muy rápido y  algunas cosas no están bien explicadas . Toda la guerra entre los Electi e Invidia aparece repentinamente , espero que esto se explique mejor en los siguientes libros .

Los personajes secundarios, Lark , Gran o Celeste son los que traen los giros y vueltas a esta historia . Discovery está llena de descubrimientos inesperados que el lector va a disfrutar.

Realmente creo que Discovery tiene la base fundamental de un buen libro , y a pesar de los defectos que he encontrado lo recomendaría .
