Robert Lewis

  This Monday we have a quite unknown BBM, you will probably know the actor but not the movie: Robert Lewis from A Life Less Ordinary (1997), played by Ewan McGregor.

  When Robert, an aspiring writer, is fired from his janitor job and dumped by his girlfriend, he decides to confront his boss and kidnap his daugther Celine (Cameron Díaz). He is definitely not the best kidnapper and Celine, who does not get along very well with his father, helps him get the money so they can both split it. What they don't know is that two angels have the task of making them fall in love (so that they don't get kicked out of Heaven).

  I really love this character (and the actor as well!) because he tries so hard to be a bad guy but he is actually a bit of a mess and can't usually manage to get things right. There are some really funny scenes of him trying to be harsh and rude but not doing a great job (for those who have watched it, I'm talking about the phone box scene, so hilarious) :D

  I personally think that Ewan McGregor is good in whatever role he plays but for some reason this is my favourite movie of him, I think he is perfect on this part. He really knows how to be the awkward, clumsy but also kind of sweet guy that the part needed. 

  It is actually a quite bizarre and sometimes absurd movie about romance but in my opinion it is really funny in a weird way :D

"Robert: Right you asshole, I've got your daughter here, and I'm gonna send her back in pieces if... OH! I'm sorry, madam. No, I must have dialed the wrong number. No, I haven't got your daughter here, I've got someone else's. No, we're not married. Yes, I've read the same thing, it's very hard to find suitable young men these days. Well, I'm sure your daughter's very nice, in principle I've got no objection to meeting her...

[Celine hangs up the phone]

  Este lunes tenemos un BBM no muy conocido, es probable que conozcáis al actor pero quizás no la película: Robert Lewis de Una Historia Diferente (1997), interpretado por Ewan McGregor.

  Cuando Robert, un aspirante a escritor, es despedido de su trabajo como conserje y abandonado por su novia, decide enfrentarse a su jefe y secuestrar a su hija Celine (Cameron Diaz). Pero definitivamente no es el mejor secuestrador del mundo y Celine, que no se lleva muy bien con su padre, le ayuda a conseguir el dinero para repartirlo entre los dos. Lo que no saben es que dos ángeles tienen la tarea de hacer que se enamoren (para que no les echen del Cielo).

  Me gusta mucho este personaje (y el actor también) porque realmente intenta ser malo pero es un desastre y no suele conseguir que las cosas le salgan bien. Hay algunas escenas muy graciosas en las que intenta ser duro y cruel pero no lo consigue (para quien la haya visto, me refiero a la escena de la cabina de teléfono, buenísima :D).

  Personalmente creo que Ewan McGregor interpreta bien cualquier papel que haga, pero por alguna razón esta es mi película favorita suya, creo que es perfecto para el papel. Realmente sabe como ser el chico torpe pero dulce que el papel requiere.

  En verdad es una película romántica algo rara y absurda a veces, pero para mí es extrañamente divertida :D

"Robert: ¡Escuche cabrón, tengo aquí a su hija y voy a devolvérsela en trocitos a menos que...! Oh, lo siento señora. No, me he debido equivocar de número. No, no tengo a su hija, sí, tengo a la de otro. No, no estamos casados. Sí, yo también lo he leído, hoy en día es muy difícil encontrar jóvenes. Estoy seguro de que su hija es muy simpática, en principio no tengo ningún problema en conocerla...
[Celine cuelga el teléfono]
Robert: ¿Pero qué pasa?"
